Workstation Specialist w/ advanced PC install/support/troubleshooting experience will work w/ existing staff to support mobile Construction/District offices (Allegheny, Beaver, Lawrence Counties)
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, and reliable transportation. Candidates must be comfortable traveling to various parts of the state and working around active construction sites. Occasional overnight travel for training may be required. The client will cover expenses falling within The Expense Reimbursement Guidelines and Policies.
The Workstation Specialist will be responsible for assisting staff by supporting hardware and software installation and troubleshooting services. Candidate must possess the ability to install and configure PC hardware, peripherals, and software in both a network and stand-alone environment is required. The ability to use diagnostic software is required. The ability to read and understand and technical manuals and schematics is required. The ability to assemble and support a microcomputer system and multifunction printers, as well as install Cat5e and/or Cat6 cable runs and perform cable terminations is required. Specific knowledge required in LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, Remedy, MS Windows., RDP, and SCCM. The resource may also be required to document technical processes. Strong team leadership skills are also required.
Although the primary focus of this position is to support mobile construction offices, the Workstation Specialist may also be required to support all other areas including all units throughout the District Offices, County Offices, Driver License Centers, and Welcome Centers, should the need arise.
Specific duties for the position include:
1. Installs computer system hardware, software, and related peripherals in accordance with departmental procedures and technical manuals.
A. Installs and configures PC hardware and peripherals (printers, modems, mice, tape drives, CD-ROMS, video cards) to meet user requirements.
B. Installs Cisco VPN routers
C. Connects/disconnects PCs and printers to the network. Attaches network cables at switch and PC or printer.
D. Assigns workstation and LU names for PCs being added to the network.
E. Installs related software (Windows, applications, network drivers) needed for proper functioning of the complete system and all interconnected devices.
F. Configures CISCO AnyConnect VPN software on non-networked PCs.
G. Upgrades or repairs existing PC equipment by replacing or adding memory, floppy disk drives, hard drives, motherboards, and I/O cards as required.
H. Installs and tests images for department PCs.
I. Planning, schedule, and track hardware deployments.
J. Train end user on use of newly deployed equipment.
K. Identify and recommend changes for efficiency gains.
2. Provide all required information to assure a complete and accurate equipment inventory.
A. Unpacks/packs computer equipment.
B. Receives, checks in, and inventories equipment. Reports all inventory transfers.
C. Records inventory information and updates Remedy Asset Management System.
D. Runs reports from Remedy Asset Management System.
E. Coordinate equipment deliveries and pickups with staff.
3. Provides direct support for workstation requests and issues.
A. Responds to workstation related trouble calls both on-site and remotely.
B. Provide PC related support to end users via telephone and e-mail.
C. Process requests for LAN user accounts.
D. Troubleshoots individual PC problems resulting from SCCM pushes.
E. Run SCCM reports and monitor workstations for compliance
F. Creates and updates Remedy tickets.
4. If needed, document technical processes and/or update existing documentation.
Required / Desired Skills
Hands on experience with Cisco VPN router installation and support (Required 4 Years)
Experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting PC hardware/software in enterprise environments (Required 4 Years)
Experience supporting Dell laptops/docking stations in enterprise environments (Required 4 Years)
Experience with Remedy ticketing systems in enterprise environments (Required 4 Years)
Experience installing print devices in enterprise environments (Required 4 Years)
Experience installing Cat5e and/or Cat6 cable runs and performing cable terminations in enterprise environments (Required 4 Years)
SCCM experience (running reports, monitoring workstations, OS/Software deployments etc) in enterprise environments (Highly Desired 3 Years)
Project Management experience (Highly Desired 3 Years)
Experience leading team deployments (Highly Desired 3 Years)
Experience supporting enterprise level PC deployment projects in multiple locations (Highly Desired 1 Years)
Experience creating process documentation (writing skills) (Highly Desired 1 Years)
Valid Driver's License / Reliable Transportation (Required 1 Years)
